Pro Football Talk – This year, with a thinner-than-usual crop of elite quarterbacks, Gruden will go beyond the most important position on the field, sitting down with Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel, South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore, and — yes — Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o. The quarterbacks who’ll get the Gruden treatment include USC’s Matt Barkley, Tyler Bray of Tennessee, Miami (Ohio) product Zac Dysert, N.C. State’s Mike Glennon, Landry Jones of Oklahoma, Florida State Seminole E.J. Manuel, Ryan Nassib of Syracuse, West Virginia’s Geno Smith, and Tyler Wilson of Arkansas.
It seems like every single day for the past year I have woken up to something that makes me wish the Mayans were right. Today, this was it. Don’t get me wrong, in small doses Coach Gruden can be entertaining. He is obviously a knowledgeable coach with a lot of offer, but God damnit he is in my life as much as Gold Shows are (ie too much). I am convinced with this semi new gig of interviewing non quarterbacks we are literally months away from an ESPN Gruden. All Gruden all the time. Half of the day would be spent with Gruden and Jaws breaking down the film, the other half would be talking reports that he was taking any available coaching job. Fuck that. He already ruins every monday night in the fall calling games with that sweaty Italian Mike Tiricio. Less is more when it comes to Chucky, I just hope ESPN realizes this before its too late.
