Pro Football Talk – “I think the helmet-to-helmet rule, where defenders have to hit at a certain target, I think they need to eliminate that,” Jones said. “I’d rather get hit in the hlemet and shoulder than have a defender take my knees out.” Asked if he thinks he needs protection, Jones answered, “That’s what my helmet is for.” In Jones’s opinion, part of being a good defensive back is the ability to make opposing receivers fear going over the middle. Jones admitted that he feels that fear sometimes, but he said it’s unfair to the players in the secondary to change the rules to eliminate that fear.
James Jones is suffering from PTSD (Protect the Shield Disorder) and I for one love it. Guy loves and respects this game called football so gosh darn much he wants the NFL to eliminate the rules that handcuffs DBs every Sunday. He is possibly the only receiver in America that would prefer to get in the helmet instead of the knees. Possible concussion be damned. This guy just gets it.
If the Rog doesn’t groom this guy to be his successor there is something seriously wrong with this world. I mean the guy went to San Jose State. He probably graduated with a degree in Sociology or Retail Management. If that doesn’t scream upper management I am out of ideas for the future of the league. Jones would easily keep labor peace and guide the league flawlessly in the post concussion era. Dude probs solves concussion problem within a year or two.
PS – It kills me this dude is a Packer. He would look so good in Burnt Orange and Navy Blue.
PPS – Peanut is totes stripping him in that pic. Bear Down indeed.
