ABC – A Texas assistant high school principal has resigned after he was arrested Monday for allegedly having sex with an underage student in his office during the school’s prom last spring. Another staff member said she “observed female students exit [West’s] office with their hair and clothing disheveled, and the female students would be smiling and laughing,” the court record states. On May 12, 2012, at the high school’s 2011-12 “Project Prom” event, the unnamed student, who worked as a student aide and had been helping with the school’s upcoming graduation, began to flirt with West, a witness — another student — told police. She said that “she was horny, and wanted to have sex with him,” states the court record. West protested at first, but after the girl persisted, West told her to meet him in his office, where they had sex, according to the witness. West was also investigated by the Spring police last year for “inappropriate touching of a female student.” No charges were filed because of a lack of evidence, according to the court record.
Having sex on prom night? That’s so cliché. And I know it’s cliché to say cliché. And even saying that is cliché. But…wait…it was an assistant principal having sex on prom night? With underage students? Well, I guess that not really cliché at all then. Let’s take a look at the stat sheet for Mr. West here. Having sex in school? Check. During Prom? Check. With an underage student? Check and mate. I guess if you’re gonna commit a second degree felony you might as well go big. And it’s not like this guy was keeping it a mystery either. The whole staff knew he was banging girls in his office too. “Another staff member said she “observed female students exit [West’s] office with their hair and clothing disheveled, and the female students would be smiling and laughing,” My question is why did this guy stick around for a year to get popped? Don’t get me wrong this guy should be put in the slammer. He’s a 30 year-old banging the 17 and under crowd at his place of work. But if he was investigated last year then why didn’t he leave town? I’m sure Spring, Texas is a great place but normally when your being investigated for felony statutory rape it’s time to get a new area code. I don’t care if your the coolest teacher in the school that all the kids hang around, like Mr. Handel.
Serious question though: Can there be any bigger difference in outcomes for both parties when it comes to the teacher-student sex scandal? One party’s life is ruined, and is a sex offender for pretty much the rest of their lives. While the other chalks it up to being a kid and gets to move on with their life. And by move on I mean go to an out-of-state college, and go by your middle name for the rest of your life so you don’t show up in any google searches. Unless the student is a guy. Then I’m pretty sure the only thing that would suck about having sex with your teacher is your hand getting sore from all the high-fives. No big down side there.
