WTKR Virginia – A Hampton Waffle House employee is now charged after officers say she played an April Fool’s joke on them. Susan Tinker is charged for lying about a robbery. Police say around 6 a.m. Monday morning, Tinker called to report the robbery at the restaurant on West Mercury Boulevard. Police say they got to the scene and spent more than an hour investigating. While waiting for the manger to get there to review surveillance tape, they figured out there was no robbery. Tinker told police it was all an April Fool’s joke.
I’m just gonna go ahead and put April Fool’s Day on the list of overhyped holidays like New Years Eve and Valentine’s Day. Everyone thinks they have the funniest prank, that usually just leave people not laughing and confused. Even big companies are getting in on it like Netflix, Google, and Hulu. Always put something zany out that baffles people and makes no one laugh except the geeks that work there. Some jokes are actually funny, like a baseball team saying they ran out of beer on Opening Day in the first inning, but for the most part April Fool’s Day is overblown and just leaves people pissed off. Than there’s this story, a fake crime at the Waffle House, literally the #1 place in the world where late night crimes go down.
Seriously, I feel like more crimes go down at Waffle House between the hours of 1am-6am than they do on a shady corner. Brawls, robberies, murders, the demolishing of a shortstack. You name it, it’s all probably gone down at the Waffle House. So, when trying to pull a hilarious April Fool’s Day prank, maybe try something else that doesn’t happen ALL THE TIME at a Waffle House. Maybe like, ‘We’re out of syrup’, or ‘Hey, some guys just ended an argument in a handshake and are leaving peacefully.’ Just kidding, no one would ever believe that.
