HuffPo – Rumors of a “Friends” reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Tuesday. Reports claimed that NBC confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom and it seems like the rumors started with KHITS, a radio station based in Tulsa, OK, Examiner. On Sunday, April 7, KHITS posted an image with the iconic orange couch from Central Perk that reads, “Friends. The One With The Reunion. Thanksgiving 2014” with the caption, “This is the best Sunday news, evar [sic]!” Warner Bros confirmed to The Huffington Post that there will be no “Friends” reunion.
This rumor got started the other day, and people were absolutely losing their shit. Like, going on Facebook and Twitter and breaking out the ALL CAPS, emoji’s, exclamation points. ANYTHING they could do to describe just how unbelievable excited they were. And don’t get me wrong, I like Friends. When they’re reruns on I’ll check them out. But this notion of a reunion is a terrible, terrible idea. What’s the story line gonna be? They’re all old. People are married. Any type of reunion would be awful. It’d be mocked on the same level as Caddyshack 2, Weekend at Bernie’s 2, and Speed 2: Cruise Control. Anyways, every since the rumors were crushed the same outcry on social media has been beyond extreme. Just take a look:
P.S. Would anyone be surprised for a second if Tyler Perry tried to reboot The Cosby’s? Just add that to the list of the 4,000 other projects he’s working on.
